Vodafone ATH Foundation The Bayly Education programme has benefited with a generous grant of $37,500 in July 2008 - thanks to the Vodafone ATH Fiji Foundation.
With continual increases in food prices this year in items such as rice, flour as well as kerosene, which are included in our ration packs, the grant was very timely. this represents around 60% of our total education budget for 2008 and will be shared equally amongst the three Centers in Suva, Lautoka and Labasa.
The Bayly Education programme supports around 500 students from less fortunate families, with the provision of tuition and other fees, exercise and text books, stationery, uniforms, footwear and school bags. The families of these students, who number about 1000, also receive fortnightly and monthly food rations throughout the year.
The Vodafone ATH Fiji Foundation was established in 2004 and as part of its corporate social responsibility, also supports education programmes to improve life in the community, inspire innovation and encourage leadership.

The Bayly Education programme provides schooling to less fortunate children so that with a good education they would then be able to find suitable employment to support their families.
We are very grateful to the foundation for this timely grant.
Education Support- Fiji Water Foundation The Fiji Water Foundation generously gave a grant of $37,500 to the JP Bayly Trust this April.
The grant was to provide educational assistance to the less fortunate children registered in the Bayly Education Programme. Assistance includes fees, uniforms, text and exercise books, stationery, shoes and bags etc, for students from Year 1 (Class 1) up to Year 13 (Form 7).
The recent price increases in basic food items due to the flooding in January and more recently the devaluation has led to more and more families falling below the poverty line. These families face financial difficulties and their children are deprived of an education either totally or partially, even thought they may have the potential to excel at school.
As a result, unemployment continues to increase with a corresponding increase in crime within the community. A good education will help the children in getting jobs thus assisting their families. The Trustees recognise that Education is a key factor in breaking the poverty cycle.
